DBYC Social: Christmas Party 2004

And only 3 more courses to go!

The DBYC held its Christmas Dinner at Chilli ‘n Spice this year - something a little different. Compliments a-plenty for the excellent food, and the Club subsidised each plate by over 50% and threw in a huge 100 pint keg of beer to get the party going. This was a chance to socialize off the water and meet the rest of the Family Members - ones we may not see at the start line very often, but sailing supporters none-the-less.

It was also a good opportunity to acknowledge and thank all the volunteer members of the Club’s Executive Committee for their efforts on the Club’s behalf. Fine bottles of port were awarded to the Commodore, Treasurer, Secretary, Membership and Training members, Webmaster, as well as a bouquet of flowers for Erica Cartledge (Merchandise & Social). Our thanks to them all for arranging the Club’s many events throughout the year.

Who shall we toast next?

Christmas presents were swapped and the Commodore, Jim Fernie, toasted the Members, thanking them for their participation in the various regattas and asking for continued support for the coming year.

"The more boats we have entering our events, the better. It requires no more effort to organize a regatta for 20 boats rather than 10… it’s just twice as much fun!" he said.

With more yachts arriving in Discovery Bay all the time, and skippers from other Hong Kong clubs keen to take part, we look forward to bigger and better DBYC ’fun & friendly‘ regattas and cruises in the coming year.

Merry Christmas everyone, and all the very best for 2005!

And last, but not least...

Was it something I ate?
