DBYC Results: Disney Islands Regatta 07 results

Hong Kong Disneyland

The Disney Islands Regatta on 11th November started with a bit of excitement at the windward mark on Race 1, as Rosemary‘s mast went over the side! Nobody hurt, though, and not a lot of damage to the boat. Andy Kung’s support boat was standing by in seconds, but wasn’t really required as Rosemary motored back to the marina under her own steam.

Just enough wind allowed a full course for Race 1 (although Skellum and Bliss fell into a hole and couldn't recover) and a shortened course for Race 2, finishing in time for the Bilge Bar prize-giving, courtesy of regatta sponsors: Hong Kong DisneyLand, Nita Kung (MP3 sunnies - a great Xmas gift), Hemingway's, Manta Ray, Cafe de Paris, Sopranos, and Zaks - the latter being the venue for our up-coming Xmas Party. Our thanks to all the sponsors, and to the race support team: Bevin Brakespeare and Craig Carlyon aboard Outsider, and Andy Kung and John Karas on the support boats.

Congratulations go to Torben Kristensen and crew aboard Authority for taking Line Honours in both races, first place in both races and winning first prize overall: the DisneyLand tickets. Enjoy!

Shindig did well in second place in Race 1, but then had to retire due work. Xakanaxa took second place in Race 2, but had missed Race 1, preferring a Sunday morning lie-in. That left Harlequin with two third places, to take second place overall, squeezing Shindig and Xakanaxa into joint third.

There were prizes for everyone, though - well done all!

Glad to see Rosemary’s mast up again just a couple of days later!
