With Severe Tropical Storm Nuri battering our shores on Friday, a family picnic didn’t seem to be such a good idea, but she blew over quickly leaving clear skies and surprisingly calm seas. An ominous cloud over Hong Kong caused some consternation and we had a sensible change of venue to Sunshine Island.
We had a lovely turnout of boats, with Harlequin, Santorini, Sipidan, Xakanaxa, Muscathay, Rosemary and Skellum cruising over to be joined by a couple of speed boats, dinghies, a laser, a Seadoo Bobski and the first outing for La Bambina - a mini Zap-cat.
While the boys got their hands dirty lighting the fires, the rest of us sat around enjoying the outing and rescuing kids stranded on small islands with barnacles. Thanks to all for pitching in with food which was great and plentiful. The dogs behaved themselves while the kids and not-so-kids played beach cricket and rounders. Congratulations to the winners of the Tug o War and we look forward to the final between Sipadan and Santorini.
