Dear DBYC,
A busy few weeks since the last Newsletter, with the highlight being the Middle Island Regatta, arranged by Cruising Rep, St John Cameron - and his team of happy volunteers, of course. Plenty more fun in the coming weeks, too - read on...
Middle Island Regatta. A repeat of this very popular event, this year's
MIR comprised a tricky little passage race from DB-Middle Island to work up a thirst, quenched by ice-cold
Cerveza Sol on arrival, then a prize-giving feast with a weird Halloween meets Bollywood theme (no, really...) courtesy of the ABC. After an overnight aboard, the pursuit race back to DB left ample time for the overall prize-giving party on the marina headland sponsored by the DB Marina Club. Full results and photos will be posted
here shortly, but congratulations go to the crews of
Harlequin (1st Div A and Overall),
Skellum (Div B), as well as individual race-winners:
Aegean, sailing two-up (Race 1, Div A & Combined),
Skellum (Race 1, Div B), and
Rigel (Race 2, Div B).
Sokos Rally - 28/29 Nov. The weather has warmed again (thank goodness), and is now perfect for cruising, so we're off to the Sokos this weekend for the 4th annual Sokos Rally, including a pursuit race (or cruise - your choice) down there on Saturday, followed by the traditional BBQ and overnight beach-party! Richard Winter is coordinating, with details listed
here. As always,
motor vessels very welcome to join the fun. Spread the word and contact
sokos@dbyc.net soonest to sign up!
DBYC Xmas Party. This year's Xmas party at the FCC (then falling into Lan Kwai Fong) is planned for Sat, 5th Dec - details
here. At almost 100 seats, this will be our biggest party yet, but only 9 tickets remain open
- so best sign up now...!Note, for those who have already booked tickets, your payment is due
now to confirm your seat.
Please do not attempt to pay on the night...!
Racing News - China Cup. It's always good to see DBYC boats doing well in the broader HK fleet, this time we have some cracking photos to prove it! Congratulations to Torben & his viking crew on
Authority for their hard-earned 4th place in blustery conditions at last month's China Cup, racing (in the wrong division, it has to be said) against the likes of A35's
Red Kite II &
Dexter II and J109
Whiskey Jack.
That's it. See you on the water!
