DBYC Newsletters: April 2006

Cheung Chau race-to lunch. Well, the threat of occasional showers reduced the field somewhat, heading to Cheung Chau for lunch on Sun, 26 Mar. Organised as a pursuit race, the fleet of six boats were bunched within 500 m of each other as they fell into the same hole and the wind switched off for the afternoon. Patience expired, they motored in turn to the typhoon shelter for a long lunch, before enjoying a cracking beat home at dusk.

Up-coming Events. Here is an outline of Club events planned for the next few months:

Fri, 28 Apr DBYC AGM To be held at 2000 hrs in the DB Marina Club.
29/30 Apr Soko Islands Rally Combined event, with the LBC, ABC and LIM. More below...
13/14 May ABC Classic Yacht Rally With overnight at Clearwater Bay. Open to all boats.
27/28 May COA Macau Race Dragon Boat boat festival race to Macau and back.
May TBN Gui Shan Dao A cruise to the Chinese islands, South of the Sokos.

Sokos Rally - 29/30 Apr. A combined event, each club will be organising their own cruise or race to the Sokos, to anchor there overnight and enjoy a beach party and BBQ under the stars. The DBYC will be arranging a race from DB to the Sokos on Sat, 29 Apr, starting off DB at 1030 hrs, and aiming to arrive at the Sokos by 1600 latest.

The ABC are arranging a Pursuit Race return on Sunday, 30 April, finishing at Datum Rock to the East of Peng Chau and, again, all boats are welcome to take part. The LBC is also arranging races down and back, weather and winds permitting, and plan on camping ashore overnight. Siu A Chau Wan on North Soko will be the main party beach, with raft-ups, BBQ’s and bonfires ashore under the stars. A great weekend for all the family.

The event is open to all boats, including motor vessels, junks, speed-boats - even canoes! Equally, yachts can choose to cruise, rather than race down and back if they prefer. So contact sokos@dbyc.net to sign up for details. It’s going to be a great weekend. Note - Mon, 1 May is also a holiday!

Crew Wanted. No need for previous experience - keen, willing hands are always welcome aboard! Contact crew@dbyc.net asap.

That’s all for now. See you on the 28th!

FOR SALE. Lorien, a Trapper 500, is for sale - a snip at $145,000 including her own Cheung Sha Lan mooring. Photos here. Contact Craig Kurten on 6221 3425 for details. Be quick!
