DBYC Newsletters: March 2006

OK, the sleepy season is just about over, so here are some up-coming DBYC events to get you back out on the water...

Up-coming Events Here is an outline of events planned for the next few months:

Sun, 19 Mar ABC Waglan Series, Race 7 Contact ABC for details

Sun, 26 Mar ‘Pursuit Race-to-lunch’ Either Cheung Chau or Stanley, depending on conditions

Fri, 28 Apr DBYC AGM Your chance to volunteer to assist as a Club Officer!

29/30 Apr Sokos cruise & overnight Combined event, with the LBC, ABC and LIM

May TBN Gui Shan Dao. A 2-day, TMR-style event to the Chinese islands, South of the Sokos

Training. In addition, we will be hosting a Safety & Seamanship Day for all novice and less experienced crew on a suitable date in April, TBD. This will be a 4-hour, marina-based, training exercise, on four or five of the larger yachts for round-robin, hands-on training for up to 30 crew, with a couple of MOB drills out on the water thrown in. DBYC members only - no charge, but a little (liquid) ‘thank-you’ for the volunteer skippers might go down well.

New Web Site Format. You will have noticed a few changes on www.dbyc.net over the next week or so, as the new CSS format is launched. It will take a few days to settle down, but please take a look and report any glitches using the new Forum page. Once complete, the new format offers far greater capacity and functionality than the previous set-up. More on that in a seperate e-mail, to follow later this month.

New DBYC Mailbox. The Marina Club has built a rack of permanent mailboxes on the external wall at the top of the ramp and kindly included a box for the DBYC. You may use this for any mail intended for the Club Officers: Treasurer, Secretary, etc. Our postal address remains: Discovery Bay Yacht Club, Discovery Bay, Lantau Island, NT.

Crew Wanted. No need for previous experience - keen, willing hands are always welcome aboard! Contact crew@dbyc.net asap.

That’s all for now. See you on the 26th!
