Greetings, all.
Let’s get right on with the important stuff: up-coming events...
Easter Cruise. Many members are keen for an overnight beach party this holiday weekend, possibly at the Sokos, and are flexible enough to wait til nearer the time to pick the best weather window within the Thu, 5 - Mon, 9 Apr holiday period. But we are absolutely open to suggestions. Please get back to us if you fancy a sail that weekend and we’ll put something together.
Tsing Ma Regatta #10. From DB - Gold Coast - DB over the weekend of 28/29 April. Details are posted on the DBYC web site here. MV’s very welcome to join the fun. In particular, we need safety boats, big and small, to cover the two races - entry free, for any boats assisting around the course. Please register entries with Poalo soonest at tmr@dbyc.net so catering and berthing can be pre-booked. Oh, and spread the word - the more boats the better!
ABC Classic Yacht Rally. Continuing in the vein of our Middle Island Regatta, we are keen to arrange regular reciprocal events with the Aberdeen Boat Club. We have invited them to join us for the TMR and we, in turn, have been invited to attend their Classic Yacht Rally on 5/6 May. Follow this link to their new web site (containing lots of pretty piccies of DBYC boats) for further details as they become available. Let’s take a fleet of DBYC boats over there, win both the races, and enjoy the famous ABC hospitality!
DBYC AGM. Scheduled for 25 April, the AGM will be an opportunity to re-organise the club’s Executive Committee and introduce some fresh blood, new ideas. This is your opportunity to do your bit for the club, as well as having a say in the club’s future. We are inviting volunteers to step forward - if you have any particular areas of expertise or interest and have a little time to offer, please reply soonest to sec@dbyc.net. Equally, nominations are invited for all Exec Com posts (see below) - contact sec@dbyc.net by 18 April if you wish to nominate any individual. It is important that you attend the AGM if at all possible, so that you can vote for the Committee you want to lead the Club forward into 2007.
DBYC Event Calendar. The full DBYC event calendar for 2007 will be published shortly.
For all DBYC members taking part in the San Fernando Race on 5 April - fair winds and good luck!
Regards,
Jim Fernie
