RACING OUTLINE

Race 1 will be an “islands race” starting in the vicinity of Discovery Bay and finishing near Middle Island. The race is also being run as part of the Cruisers Owners Association 2009/10 Championship.
Race 2 of the MIR will be conducted as a Pursuit Race. All boats shall start at a time defined by their handicap, and finish order will equal prize order. Start times will be issued at the race briefing prior to Race 2. Handicaps may be adjusted by the Race Committee overnight to reflect each boat’s performance from Race 1. DBYC SRI 8.2 refers.
There will be an option for Skippers to join the Waglan 1 Race being hosted by ABC on Sunday 1st Nov. Course yet to be decided. If possible we will try to hold a joint race.
Boats will be handicapped by HKPN, or DBPN (issued by the DBYC) if no HKPN is available. The DBYC Handicapping Committee reserves the right to adjust existing HKPN handicaps using the PIPPS system (as described on the COA website), in order to fairly balance the performance of all boats entered.
Prizes will be awarded for places in each Race by class and also for the COA championship and overall for the weekend, including line honours.
PLAN FOR THE FUN STUFF
We are always very well supported by the staff and management at both the ABC and DBMC. This year the major social event will be held at ABC Middle Island during the overnight stop.
On arrival at ABC MI, the crews will be met with heaps of ice-cold beer courtesy of long-term sponsor, Cerveza Sol and we will celebrate Halloween for the kids on the dockside with plenty of fiendish “trick or treats”. There will be a prizes for dressing up the boats - for the most creative themed anchor light and for the overall scariest “Flying Dutchman” (Bart has an advantage).
Dinner will be “Bollywood Halloween”... fancy dress encouraged “ghouls in turbans or zombies in saris”
