Lovely September weather we’re having! Let’s talk about sailing...

DBYC Disney Islands Regatta. The event went off without a hitch last weekend right up to the Black Rain Storm warning, and the black rain storm that preceded it! We did manage the first of the two planned races, though, with Wizard taking first place, just 10 minutes ahead of Atmosphere. Xakanaxa then beat Shockwave for third place by 11 secs on corrected time. The heavens opened after that, so the crews kicked-back and dried out in the Bilge Bar for a long lunch and even longer prize-giving, courtesy of our many sponsors. A full race report will be published on www.dbyc.net later this week, and in FH next month.

Up-coming Events. Here’s a list for your diary:

16/17 Sep RHKYC Autumn Regatta
23/24 Sep HHYC Port Shelter Regatta
30 Sep/2 Oct COA Macau Race
20-25 Oct RHKYC China Coast Regatta
11/12 Nov DBYC Middle Island Regatta
Fri, 1 Dec DBYC Xmas Party aboard Star Pisces

DBYC Xmas Party. Your Social Committee are working hard to arrange the Xmas Party as a classy black-tie affair aboard Star Pisces overnight on Fri, 1 Dec. Boarding at 1830 Friday evening, cruising local waters overnight and disembarking by 1100 the next morning. Cost is expected to be just $880 per person (after DBYC subsidy), to include double stateroom, welcome cocktail party on the upper pool-deck, Thai dinner with wine, show, night club party, breakfast and much more. So arrange your time off for those dates now, and Ladies, start thinking about that dress - it’s going to be a great night!

Middle Island Regatta. Planned as a round-Lamma race and overnight at ABC Middle Island with lamb-spit party. More details to follow, but this should be a biggie, with large entries from both Clubs, rivalling the popular Tsing Ma Regatta.

Typhoon Procedures UPDATE. Further to our explanation in the August Newsletter, Manager, Albert Khong has now agreed that the Marina Club net will be lowered throught T3 and 2 hours after T8, to allow safe access. We are working on a Typhoon Procedures page for the DBYC web site, to expand on these (and other) typhoon measures.

Annual Subs. For the last few annual subs that are still outstanding, please pop a cheque in the DBYC post-box at the Marina Club, or send direct to DBYC Treasurer, Nigel Easterbrook, at Flat E, Block 5, Parkland Drive, Discovery Bay. Please fill out a new membership application form if any of your details have changed, otherwise just the dosh. Thanks.
