The tenth Tsing Ma Regatta, racing from Discovery Bay to the Gold Coast and return, is scheduled for the weekend of 28 and 29th April 2007.

Employing the usual ‘fun and friendly’ format, the regatta is sponsored by HSBC Bank International, the Discovery Bay Marina Club (DBMC), the Gold Coast Yacht and Country Club (GCYCC), the Igors Group of restaurants (Cafe de Paris and The Pickled Pelican), Fragrant Harbour magazine, and Cerveza Sol

The outline of events is as follows:

Fri, 27 Apr 1900 Pre-race beer and get-together at the DBMC Bilge Bar ‘happy hour’.

Sat, 28 Apr 0930 Race briefing in the Discovery Bay Marina Club (DBMC).
1100 Race 1 - DB to Gold Coast. Starting off DB and rounding Peng Chau, Kau Yi Chau, Ma Wan and The Brothers to Pearl Island.
1600 Cerveza Sol beer-call alongside at GCYCC
1900 Buffet dinner at GCYCC Voyagers Restaurant ($160 or $110 age 12 and under).
2100 Prize-giving party at the new Gold Coast Marina Clubhouse.

Sun, 29 Apr 0800 Buffet breakfast in the Gold Coast Voyagers Restaurant ($60)
0900 Race briefing in the Gold Coast Marina Clubhouse
1000 First start, Race 2 – pursuit race from Gold Coast to DB. Starting off Pearl Island and rounding Ma Wan, Kau Yi Chau and Peng Chau, to finish off DB marina.
1400 Beer-call alongside at DBMC, sponsored by Cerveza Sol
1500 Headland party at DB Marina Club.

The regatta entry fee of $800 ($500 for Race 1 or $300 for Race 2, for single-race entry) includes full buffet dinner for up to 4 crew at the GCYCC prize-giving, and the Headland buffet for all the crew back at DB. Additional Gold Coast dinner and breakfast tickets can be ordered on the Entry Form.

Discovery Bay and Gold Coast Marina Clubs are kindly sponsoring the event and berthing at both marinas will be free for competitors during the weekend of the race.

Motor vessels are welcome (entry gratis), assisting as guard vessels through ‘the gap’. Race entries will be accepted up to Wed, 25th April. Entries after that date may still be accepted with payment of a late entry fee, but please book as soon as possible, so that berthing, shore power and catering can be arranged.

Boats may join the Regatta at any stage – at Discovery Bay on Friday evening for the Bilge Bar ‘happy hour’, Saturday morning in time for Race 1, or at the Gold Coast in time for Race 2.

A limited number of rooms have been reserved in the adjacent Gold Coast Hotel at a special regatta rate of $880 plus tax (double/twin), available on a first come, first served basis. Contact Joyce at the Reservations Department direct (tel 2452 8833, fax 2440 7783) to get this special rate.
