Tsing Ma Race 2008
After weeks of bad news in which it seemed like the Gods were against us and we would not have a Tsing Ma Race this year as well as the weather being funny, against all odds, and with the stubbornness of your Commodore we managed to pull it off very well. TMR11 was as exciting as ever and with a modified route due to the Marine Dept. not wanting us to interfere with the recovery of the sunken tug boat off the Brothers.
13 boats in 2 divisions and wind. Exciting strategies. A great thanks to the sponsors
A thanks also to Bevin Brakespeare for the work well done on his committee boat, Outsider and Andy Kung for setting up the start as well as Janine and Stephan with the admin and Andy, Jan, Torben and Jim with the handicapping, Faye - organizing our beer and dinner in the last minute - and all the other volunteers who contributed.
The HSBC International Photo competition was won by James Oliver and here is the photo. Well done and enjoy your Ipod-touch.

Salona Cup Drag Race February 08
With a week to go the Race officer was
looking down the icy barrel of apathy in the face of DBYC sailors who
had gone into hibernation for Hong Kong's coldest and most miserable
winter in 60 years or more. With many boats laid up out of the water
and other skippers and crew away in warmer climes he was faced with a
race that might only have 3 boats on the line. But nay a valiant call
from the Wizard (aka Bruce Perkins) at ABC to say they were
hungry for blood and were looking for start line practice and top
mark fodder awoke the competitive zeal that had been sleeping in
DBYC's finest.

Disney Islands Regatta 07 results
The Disney Islands Regatta on 11th November started with a bit of excitement at the windward mark on Race 1, as Rosemary‘s mast went over the side! Nobody hurt, though, and not a lot of damage to the boat. Andy Kung’s support boat was standing by in seconds, but wasn’t really required as Rosemary motored back to the marina under her own steam. full story click here... |

TMR #10 - Race 2
Race 2 Most boats crossed the start, which had been set up properly, spot-on. A fresh easterly and a favorable current left very few tactical options except to stay in the middle where the favorable current was strongest but where the traffic was. full story click here... |
